Sandra Otto

I've been editing professionally since 2001. Before that time, I worked in financial institutions, generating, writing and producing investment research and managing special projects. My academic background includes a bachelor of arts degree from the University of Toronto and a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation.

My editing career began with publishing courses at Ryerson University and an internship in the editorial department of HarperCollins Canada. I went on to edit and proofread trade fiction and nonfiction, website content, self-help books, memoirs, textbooks, a screenplay, and financial reports. I also wrote articles for banking websites and a series of chapter-opening vignettes for a corporate finance textbook.

Later on, I opened a small art gallery in the Junction neighbourhood of Toronto, where I designed and hosted exhibits for artists working in a variety of styles. A book/poetry reading held at the gallery one summer was particularly wonderful.

When I'm not editing, I like to read, practise yoga, paint, play the piano, and cook.
